As a waterproofing admixture Prep Coat & Additive will improve the water resistance and adhesion of cement based compounds such as mortars, slurries, grouts and cement based adhesives

SIZES:
1L, 4L

Features:

  • Excellent adhesion over general building surfaces
  • Fast drying
  • Economical coverage of up to 1 litre / 8m2
  • Can be used as a paint and tile primer
  • Compatible with Gripset Betta membranes, tile adhesives, renders and acrylic paints

FINISHES:

IDEAL FOR:

  • Used to enhance adhesion of Gripset Betta membranes
  • Enables improved coverage of membrane application
  • Tile, rendering and paint primer (acrylic paints only)
  • Masonry and concrete
  • Marine ply and wet area timber sheeting
  • Cement sheet and wet area plaster board
  • Clay and concrete bricks
  • General porous surfaces
  • Existing acrylic coatings and Gripset Betta products
APPLICATION METHOD
Preparation

Surfaces must be prepared thoroughly before commencing. Surfaces are to be sound, stable, dry and clean, free of loose foreign matter including any surface residues or existing coatings. Buildings are to be constructed to relevant building standards and manufacturer’s recommendations are to be followed for all building materials used.

Application

Stir content thoroughly, before use.

Apply by brush

  • For Gripset Betta liquid membrane applications apply product directly out of pail at coverage of 1 litre/6-8m2. Do Not Dilute
  • On very porous surfaces or surfaces with weak surface strength, e.g. aerated concrete, asbestos etc. apply 2 coats of primer
  • When using as a tile or paint primer, dilute 1 part Prep Coat & Additive to 2 parts water, then brush/roll onto surface
Drying

Tack Free (primer usage) – 15-30 mins
Dry Film (ready for overcoat) – 30 – 45 mins

* Based on normal ambient conditions of 20
0C. Temperature, humidity and porosity will vary dry times.
Note – When using as an admixture, drying will be based on cement content in compound.

Clean up in water while wet. Once product is dried it needs to be removed mechanically or by solvent

TIPS & FAQ’s
  • Not to be used over non absorbent/non porous surfaces
  • Not to be left exposed as finished membrane or sealer
  • Not to be used as a membrane
  • Do not apply solvent coatings over dried primer surface
  • Primer must be dried before over coating with finishes
  • Not to be applied when surface temperature is below 100C or above 350C
  • Before commencing the application, adhesion of products to be used (primers, membranes, coatings) should be tested over a typical area of the prepared surface to ensure satisfactory adhesion
  • Clean away surface residues from metals, glazed and plastic surfaces
  • Do not apply over sealants such as silicon, polyurethane etc.
