Hydrochloric Acid

Bondall Hydrochloric Acid is the solution for acid etching concrete, brick and pavers to adequately prepare the surface prior to sealing or painting. It is also ideal for cleaning and polishing brick or metal and adjusting the pH level in pools.

COVERAGE:
1L (mixture) will cover 20sqm

SIZES:
1L, 5L, 20L

APPLICATION METHOD &
CLEANUP:
Broom, Watering Can, Bucket

Features:

  • 320g/L Hydrochloric Acid
  • 32% Hydrochloric Acid
  • Industrial Grade
APPLICATION METHOD
Acid Etching

Remove any heavy build up or lumps of cement with a scraper.

Wet surface thoroughly with water to begin with, this aids not only an even spread of the hydrochloric acid solution, but creates an even reaction with the surface

Mix 1 part Hydrochloric Acid in 10 parts of water always mix the acid into a bucket pre-filled with water. (Do not add the acid into an empty bucket and add water after)

Apply solution with a broad brush or watering can, being careful to avoid splashing. Spreading around with a stiff bristled broom.

Upon contact a chemical reaction will occur, this is usually identified by frothing of the surface, sometimes the frothing is not visible (visible frothing is dependent on what the acid is reacting with on the surface and is not always visible)

Once the frothing stops or after 3-5 minutes rinse solution away thoroughly with fresh water, do not allow area to dry prior to washing off.

Repeating the process may be necessary in order to achieve the desired result. Properly etched areas will feel like sandpaper. Do not increase the concentration for a more aggressive treatment.

Cleaning

Adjusting Pool pH

Pool pH and Total Alkalinity adjuster

Use a test kit to determine the pH and total alkalinity. The pH and total Alkalinity should be maintained between 7.2-7.6 and 80-155ppm.

100ml of Hydrochloric Acid into 40,000 litres will lower the pH by 0.1 points (i.e. 7.9 to 7.8)

If the required amount of acid is unknown never add more than 500ml at any one time.

In a suitable bucket fill with pool water. Add required volume of acid to the pool water filled bucket and allow it to mix.

Run pump for 1-2 hours after adding acid then re-test pool water.

Repeat the dose until correct levels are obtained

Do not mix Hydrochloric acid with any other chemicals.
