Bondcrete is a versatile product that can also be used as a sealer to protect and enhance various surfaces. There are several reasons why you might choose to seal a surface with Bondcrete. Here are some common reasons:
Surface Protection: Sealing a surface with Bondcrete as a sealer provides an additional layer of protection against various elements, stains, and wear and tear. It helps to prevent damage and extends the lifespan of the surface.
Improved Adhesion: Bondcrete as a sealers can improve the adhesion of subsequent layers of paint, coatings, or adhesives. By sealing the surface, you create a better bond between the surface and the applied materials, resulting in a more durable and long-lasting finish.
Smooth and Even Finish: When applied as a sealer, Bondcrete will fill in imperfections and pores on the surface, resulting in a smoother and more even finish. This is particularly useful when working with porous materials such as wood or plaster.
Easier Maintenance: A sealed surface is often easier to clean and maintain. The sealer can make the surface more resistant to dirt, dust, and stains, allowing for easier removal and regular upkeep.
Step 1: Surface Preparation
Before applying Bondcrete as a sealer, it is essential to prepare the surface properly. Ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants such as dirt, dust, grease, or loose particles.
Step 2: Dilution
Bondcrete needs to be diluted with water before application as a sealer. The specific dilution ratio may vary depending on the porosity of the surface.
As a general guideline, a dilution ratio of 1 part Bondcrete to 4 parts water is commonly used for sealing purposes.
Step 3: Application
Stir the diluted Bondcrete mixture thoroughly
Apply a sealing coat of diluted Bondall BondCrete 1: Water 4 by brush, roller or spray
Leave to dry for approximately 12 hours.
Some surfaces may require an initial coat of Bondcrete 1:6 with water before applying a 2ndcoat of Bondcrete 1:4
Please Note: Do not seal floor with Bondall BondCrete if you intend to use an oil-based paving paint or similar floor coating system. For exterior use, apply Bondall Paving & Concrete Sealer.
