General Application of Duratite

Product: Bondall DuraTite

Surface Preparation:

  • Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and free from laitance, dust, oil or grease and any other contaminants. Corroded metal areas should be wire brushed and then pre-treated with a suitable anti-rust coating.
  • Concrete must have cured for at least 28 days and be dry before application.
  • Ridges and protrusions must be removed prior to application. When repairing areas with small holes and cracks or when joint movement is likely, Bondall Polyweave (a non woven polyester fabric) is recommended for reinforcement.
  • Bondall Duratite must be applied to the positive side i.e. to prevent moisture entering the substrate.

Application:

  • Note: Do not apply Bondall Duratite if temperature is below 10ºC or relative humidity is above 80%. Do not apply if rain is anticipated within 24 hours.
  • First coat: Apply at the rate of 1.5m² per litre. If reinforcing is required, whilst coat is still wet work the Polyweave into the Bondall Duratite using a brush or roller. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
  • Second coat: Apply at 1.5m² per litre at right angles (90º) to the first, ensuring thorough wetting out and coverage of the Polyweave. If the Bondall Polyweave is still exposed after the second coat, apply more Bondall Duratite.
  • May be applied by brush, roller or spray.
