APPLICATION METHOD
PREPARATION

Clean surface thoroughly to remove contaminants. Do not attempt to waterproof an unsound surface.

If concrete is smooth the surface should be acid-etched. If acids or detergents are used ensure such materials are removed from the surface and are neutralised before commencing. Before applying saturate the surface with water to minimise its porosity.

CEMENT PAINT APPLICATION

For use as a Cement Paint. By volume, mix 1 part Silasec : 5 parts water : 7 parts fresh GP Portland cement. Add 1 part of BondCrete to the paint to help adhesion.

DRYING

Apply a minimum of three coats at 24-hour intervals.

Saturate each surface with water before application and only apply to a damp surface. If desired final coat can be coloured with oxides.

TIPS & FAQ’s
  • Silasec is to be mixed with cement, it cannot be used alone or neat.
  • Wetting the surface down before  and during application of  Silasec Cement Paint solutions aids adhesion and curing, it is critical to step to the long lasting finish.
  • For fish ponds, water must be neutralised and stabilised before replacing or introducing fish. For water tanks flush and rinse well 24 hours prior to filling with water. Then testing water pH to ensure the environment is correct.
  • Do not add Clay or Lime to the mix
  • Silasec Cement Putty cures quickly, once mixed. Only mix what is required at the time (mix in small batches)

  • Surface preparation is critical to the outcome and longevity of the surface finish. All surfaces to be treated should be clean and  free from wax, oil, grease and other contaminants.
  • For Potable water tanks, after curing rinse well before use and test the water pH before resuming regular usage.

  • Gauging water is not an exact measurement, and is used as a pre-mix guide.
